Sarah Ahearn Bellemare is an artist from New England who first began painting as a way to illustrate poetry.
Her mixed media paintings are layered with found images, fragments of text from old books, and pieces of vintage maps. These ephemera become the fabric and focus of many of her paintings, many of which are inspired by her childhood memories of time spent by the seashore on Cape Cod.
Sarah teaches her unique, mixed media techniques at Squam Art Workshops
in both New Hampshire and in North Carolina. Sarah's work has been featured in Cloth Paper Scissors magazine, Artful Blogging, Studios, and Memory Maker magazines, as well as on a number of art and design blogs.
In May of 2011, her first book, Painted Pages: New Ways of Fueling Creativity with Mixed Meda will be published by Quarry Books. see it here
She regularly exhibits throughout Northeast in galleries and art fairs, including Paradise City Arts Festival in Northampton, MA and at the Bazaar Bizarre in Boston. She can be found making messes in her studio on a daily basis.
