Flower/Vase (2010) was born from my experiences showing outdoor sculptures with Collaborative Concepts at Saunders Farm in Garrison, NY. I began to wonder how a giant flower in a vase would look on one of the hillsides. My curiosity finally prevailed this year.
The vase was constructed first. It is made from 1/4" aluminum that is reinforced internally with rib-like bars. Also welded inside is a tube that holds the stem of the flower. The stem is 1" aluminum rod that has been curved slightly. The flower was made from a series of 1/8" aluminum triangles. It slides onto the stem.
