I paint to process my personal thoughts and experiences. What I paint, even the simplest object in a still life can represent a range of ideas, emotions and contemplations. In my figurative paintings I try to portray the depth of an ordinary moment or examine the effects of global events.

Although I was academically trained in the tradition of classical realism, I also consider the abstract and enjoy the subconscious power it can hold. Uniting that power with reality, as a way to explore contemporary issues, is my goal and my continued struggle as a painter.

The position of the artist is humble. He is essentially a channel.
-Piet Mondrian
