Beth Giacummo (b. 1982 Port Jefferson, NY) lives and works in Eastern Long Island, holding a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, and an MFA in New Forms from Pratt Institute. Her interest in Contemporary art, glass and travel has led her to many cities and countries where she has had the opportunity to live and study. Those locations include the Escola dArts Plastique I Disseny, Spain, the Pilchuck School of Glass (NYFA SOS funding), Seattle, Washington, and the Danish School of Design, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Pukeberg, Sweden.
For over 13 years Ms. Giacummo has been working with and studying many glass working methods including glass blowing, fusing and casting. As an Installation and glass artist she has exhibited her work in Long Island, NYC and International galleries as well as alternative spaces. Selected exhibitions include Steuben West Gallery, Brooklyn NY (Sexing Games), Gallery at CVA, Blue Point NY (Fear to Fetish), and Visual Arts Gallery SoHo NY. (Reality Check)
At the moment Ms. Giacummo is in the process of completing a new series of installations Love Lab 2010 and Vanity-A-Fair.
As the Assistant Director of The Center For Visuals Arts, Blue Point, NY she has been teaching Fine Arts to students of all ages for over 9 years. Currently Ms. Giacummo is also a professor of Fine Art at Briarcliffe College, Suffolk Community College, and Mill Pond House Gallery. Most recently Ms. Giacummo was asked to be a Visual Arts consultant and develop the Artist in Residency program for the East End Arts Council, Riverhead, NY. As an arts activist Ms. Giacummo does her best to help the Long Island arts community thrive and stay connected to the NYC art world. She is the newly elected Vice President of the Patchogue Arts Council.
